Culture Date with Dublin 8

This neighbourhood initiative, celebrates Dublin 8’s rich cultural, historical and architectural heritage while encouraging people who are living, working and visiting the area to explore what is on their doorstep. Once again, Dublinia is taking part from the 7th to the 10th of May, and there is a lot on offer! All events must be booked.

Viking Knit Weaving Class – 10th of May from 11am to 2pm 

This event invites guests to learn the ancient art of Viking knit weaving in a fun and interactive class. Ideal for beginners, this class is suitable
for those aged 16+ looking to learn how to make their own jewellery or keychain. All materials will be provided, and guests will get to take home their finished piece as well as the materials used to continue their practice from home! Book tickets here

Medieval Tower Tour – 7th and 8th of May from 2pm to 3pm

Come and join us on the Dublinia Tower Tour, where you can dive into the fascinating history of our medieval tower! This fun and engaging tour is a fantastic opportunity to discover the amazing stories that have shaped our wonderful city. Plus, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Dublin’s historic skyline that you won’t want to miss! Exhibition Tour – 9th and 10th of May from 11am to 12pm

Join our expert guides to explore the Viking and Medieval eras. Discover life during Viking times by visiting a Viking warship and learning about weapons and warrior skills. Experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a busy city. Learn about crime, punishment, and toothache remedies from 700 years ago. Enjoy the medieval fair, play old games, visit a rich merchant’s kitchen, and stroll down a lively street. See artifacts from Dublin on loan from the National Museum of Ireland, including items from the Wood Quay excavations. Book tickets here
