Education Programme



There is a wide range of learning facilities at Dublinia for primary and secondary schools, overseas language schools and families.

Domestic Schools Tour Programme


We offer school tours and educational activities all year round. Costumed guides will bring your class through the exhibitions at any time of year and we will tailor the tour to suit all ages/needs and group size, as well as relevance to the history curriculum. We also have a specially devised tour for secondary schools.
The cost is €4.95 per pupil for a guided tour of Dublinia, (approx 1 hour, depending on the size of the group).

One teacher free for every 10 pupils.
Groups must be pre-booked.

We have a new secondary school Transition Year worksheet available for download. It focuses on our third level archaeology based exhibition, History Hunters.

Learning Pack for Primary Schools


Dublinia has a brand new Learning pack (developed in accordance with the SESE Primary school history curriculum) to assist teachers in their visit to Dublinia. There are pre-visit and post-visit elements to the pack for each of our exhibitions, and also a worksheet for the self-guided History Hunters exhibition. All of which you can download free below.

NEW History Hunters Dig Workshops!


Dig workshops are a new educational resource being launched as part of Dublinia’s education programme for 2012. Each Wednesday from February 1st to May 31st our 1 hour long workshops give students a chance to become an archaeologist and excavate artefacts as part of a hands-on dig experience. Workshops also include a guided tour of the History Hunters exhibition.
Workshops cost €2 euro per student with a maximum of 26 per workshop. Pre-booking is essential.

Student/Overseas Groups:


We have excellent language and educational facilities at Dublinia, including audio points in each room, translation sheets and also an activity sheet to work on pre or post visit. Download Language School Activity Sheet

Groups, including overseas school groups, language schools and other similar groups must be pre-booked and supervised at all times during their visit. Guided tour not included.
Due to safety reasons groups are not able to visit St. Michael’s Tower.

The cost is €4.95 per student to visit Dublinia. One teacher free for every 10 students. All group sizes welcome.


Adults/Special Interest Groups:


Dublinia also provides a strong educational programme to adults and special interest groups. If your group has a particular interest in Medieval or Viking history, a self-guided visit is advisable, as our exhibitions are designed to be, however we can also tailor a guided tour to a particular area, where possible.

The discounted cost of an adult group is €5.50 to visit Dublinia.

Dublinia Library
